Evidence explainer: when did Grenada’s revised minimum-wage framework take effect?
What the evidence says
Grenada’s Department of Labour identifies 1 January 2024 as the commencement date for the new Minimum Wage Order. The IMF’s 2024 Article IV report also records a January 2024 update, the first since 2011.
This establishes that a policy change occurred during the NDC administration. It does not establish that every employer complied or that every worker received the same increase. Rates depend on the applicable category.
This is a policy explainer, not a rebuttal of a quoted NNP statement. No original opposition claim is attributed here. For an individual wage question, check the relevant Order and consult the Department of Labour.
Sources checked: 12 October 2026. The effective date discussed is historical, not a claim that these are the latest rates for every occupation.
Party source: NDC’s administration page describes this policy as part of its record. That party-authored account is included for context; the verdict relies on the institution or official documents linked above.
